Short description: Methods of propagation of fruit trees, shrubs and ornamental plants. Environmental conditions affecting nursery production. Types of nurseries. Grafting and budding. Technology of production and health nursery material.
Full description: The content of the course is the production of nursery material for fruit trees and shrubs as well as perennial ornamental plants. Learning content include: state and development trends of nursery production in Poland, environmental factors conditioning the nursery production. Exactly will discuss the method of propagation of fruit trees, shrubs and ornamental plants, the principles of grafting and budding, production cycles, factors affecting the quality and storage of nursery material. An important part of the knowledge will be rootstock- its types, propagation and impact on the cultivar. Propagation and care of nursery material for orchard, plantations, gardens forest, including fruit trees, ornamental shrubs, roses and alley trees

Learning outcomes: Knowledge Students obtain knowledge of: methods of propagation of perennial plants for orchard and gardens, as well as production cycles in nurseries and stool beds. Acquires knowledge of the factors affecting the quality and health of nursery material. He knows the rules for the selection of the rootstock and its grafting and budding O1 – W15 Student is able to plan and carry out nursery for fruit and ornamental trees and shrubs It has the ability to use basic methods of propagation perennial plants He can grafting, budding and cuttings O1-WU7 Social competency He is aware of the role of education and self-improvement in the field of new technologies in the nurseries and understands the need for continuous learning and improvement He knows the rights and duties of nursery man He is aware of the responsibility for nursery production and its impact on the fruit-growing, gardens and the environment O1-K01 O1-K04
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: Test exam. practical budding, and grafting, and cuttings disscusion grade obtained at classes (60%) + grade obtained at lectures (40%)
